MarkdownForge is an independent web toolkit that lets anyone convert between the world's most common document formats and Markdown — instantly, privately, and completely free.

Our mission

Markdown has quietly become the default writing format for developers, technical writers, researchers and product teams. Yet most of the content people work with still lives in Word documents, PDFs, HTML pages and spreadsheets. Every day, millions of people search Google for 'docx to markdown', 'pdf to markdown' or 'html to markdown', and end up on slow, ad-choked sites that upload their files to unknown servers. We built MarkdownForge to fix that.

How it works

Every converter on MarkdownForge runs 100% in your browser using open-source parsers compiled to JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your files are never uploaded, never logged, and never seen by us. When you close the tab, everything is gone.

Who we are

MarkdownForge is built by a small team of developers who use Markdown every day for documentation, README files, blog posts and knowledge bases. We fund the site with unobtrusive display advertising so it stays free forever — no accounts, no paywalls, no upsells.
